About Chamba Valley

The Chamba Valley Trek is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most scenic crossover journeys, beginning around McLeod Ganj and gradually climbing through oak, pine and rhododendron forests toward the high-altitude landscapes of the Dhauladhar range. As the trail gains height, the scenery changes into vast alpine meadows, rocky mountain slopes, snow patches and dramatic ridgelines, eventually reaching the impressive Indrahar Pass at 4,342 metres. From the pass, trekkers get magnificent views across the Kangra and Chamba sides of the Himalayas, followed by a beautiful descent into the quieter Chamba Valley. The route also passes traditional Himalayan settlements and areas associated with the Gaddi shepherd culture, giving the trek a strong combination of natural beauty, adventure and local culture. The contrast between the greener Kangra side and the rugged, remote Chamba side makes this trek particularly special for photographers and experienced trekkers.
