About Deoriatal-Chandrashila
The Deoriatal–Chandrashila Trek is one of Uttarakhand’s most scenic short Himalayan treks. Starting from Sari Village, the trail climbs through forests of oak and rhododendron to the beautiful Deoriatal Lake, where the surrounding Himalayan peaks can be reflected in the calm waters. The route then continues through meadows and forests towards Chopta, followed by the climb to the ancient Tungnath Temple. From Tungnath, trekkers make the final steep ascent to Chandrashila Summit, where clear weather can reveal spectacular panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas, including Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trishul and Kedarnath peaks. The trek is relatively short but provides a combination of forests, alpine landscapes, spirituality, snow and high-altitude mountain scenery.
