About Doodhpathri Trek
The Doodhpathri Trek takes you into one of the most picturesque meadow landscapes of Kashmir’s Budgam district. Known as the “Valley of Milk,” Doodhpathri sits at approximately 2,730 metres (8,957 ft) and is surrounded by lush alpine meadows, deodar and pine forests, rolling mountain slopes and the beautiful Shaliganga stream. The landscape changes as the trail moves away from the main meadow, with forest paths gradually opening into expansive high-altitude pastures and remote valleys.
The trek has several route variations. A shorter version covers approximately 8–12 km, while a longer multi-day route can cover around 25 km and lead toward higher meadows and alpine lakes such as Damamsar and Bhansar. More demanding itineraries can climb beyond 13,000 ft, making the experience considerably more challenging than a simple Doodhpathri meadow walk. The combination of green meadows, streams, forests, grazing horses and snow-dusted mountains makes the trek particularly attractive for photographers and adventure enthusiasts.
