About Kalicho pass

Kali Cho Pass is one of the most remote and dramatic trekking routes in Himachal Pradesh, cutting through the rugged Pir Panjal mountains between the Chamba and Lahaul regions. The journey begins through traditional mountain villages, dense forests and green alpine landscapes before gradually entering the harsher high-altitude world of rocky slopes, wide meadows, streams and snow-covered terrain. As the trail climbs toward nearly 5,000 metres, the scenery becomes increasingly spectacular, with huge mountain walls, glaciers and distant Himalayan peaks surrounding the route. The crossing of Kali Cho itself is the defining moment of the trek, where steep slopes, snow and rugged mountain terrain create an intense sense of adventure. The remote character of the trail, traditional Gaddi culture, Banni Mata traditions, almost untouched valleys and dramatic contrast between the green Chamba side and the barren Lahaul landscape make Kali Cho Pass particularly special for experienced trekkers looking for a genuinely wild Himalayan experience.
