About Laka Glacier

The Laka Glacier Trek is one of the most popular short treks around Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj, offering an exciting combination of forest trails, alpine meadows, rocky terrain and seasonal snow. The journey generally begins around Dharamkot or Gallu Temple and follows the famous Triund trail through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests. After reaching Triund, the route continues towards Snowline and Laka Got, where the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and alpine, with magnificent views of the Dhauladhar peaks, Kangra Valley and surrounding mountain ridges. Laka Got lies at roughly 3,300–3,500 metres, although the exact altitude reached depends on the route and seasonal conditions. The trek is usually completed in 2–3 days and is suitable for reasonably fit beginners and experienced trekkers alike. Snow conditions are particularly attractive in the colder months, while March–June and September–November are commonly used trekking windows.
