About Lidderwat
The Lidderwat Trek is a beautiful Himalayan journey beginning from Aru Valley near Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir. The trail follows the course of the Lidder River through peaceful pine and fir forests, open grasslands, small wooden bridges and traditional shepherd settlements before reaching the wide green meadows of Lidderwat. The gradual trail and relatively moderate terrain make it a good choice for beginners and families looking for an introduction to trekking in Kashmir.Lidderwat sits at roughly 2,750–3,300 metres, depending on the route and campsite reference, and is surrounded by spectacular Himalayan mountains. The meadow is particularly beautiful during summer when wildflowers cover the landscape and shepherds bring their flocks to the high pastures. The area is also an important starting point for more challenging adventures toward Tarsar Lake, Marsar Lake and Kolahoi Glacier, making Lidderwat a wonderful combination of scenic trekking and access to Kashmir’s high-altitude wilderness.
