About Bijli Mahadev

Bijli Mahadev Trek is a beautiful and relatively easy Himalayan trek in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, leading to the famous Bijli Mahadev Temple situated on a hilltop at around 2,460 metres (8,070 ft). The popular trail begins at Chansari Village and involves approximately 2.5 km of uphill walking one way, making the total trekking distance around 5 km. The route passes through peaceful pine and deodar forests, open mountain slopes and scenic sections overlooking the surrounding valleys. At the summit, trekkers are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the Kullu and Parvati Valleys and the surrounding Himalayan mountains. The ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is famous for its traditional association with lightning striking the temple and the Shiva lingam. Because of its short distance, moderate ascent and well-defined trail, Bijli Mahadev is an excellent choice for beginners, families and travellers looking for a rewarding one-day Himalayan adventure. During winter, snowfall can transform the trail and temple surroundings into a beautiful snow-covered landscape.
