The trail from Zingchen to Rumbak passes through a scenic gorge and leads to the peaceful Rumbak village at around 4,000 m. In winter, the valley is particularly famous for snow leopard tracking, while summer offers pleasant trekking conditions and spectacular mountain scenery.

About Rumbak Valley Trek
The Rumbak Valley Trek is one of the most rewarding short treks in Ladakh, taking adventurers deep into the spectacular landscapes of Hemis National Park. The journey commonly begins at Zingchen, from where the trail follows a narrow gorge toward the traditional village of Rumbak. Surrounded by rugged mountains, barren ridges, streams, and colourful Himalayan landscapes, Rumbak offers a wonderful combination of adventure, nature, and authentic Ladakhi village life. The village sits at approximately 4,000 metres, making acclimatization important for trekkers.The valley is also renowned for its wildlife. Trekkers may encounter blue sheep, Ladakh urial, Himalayan birds, Tibetan wolves, and other high-altitude species. During winter, Rumbak becomes particularly popular for snow leopard expeditions, when the elusive cats descend toward lower valleys in search of prey. Summer and early autumn, especially June to September, are generally preferred for conventional trekking because the weather and trail conditions are more suitable. The trek can also be extended toward Stok La and Stok Village, creating a longer and more challenging route through the surrounding Himalayan terrain.
