Geography and Highlights
- Location: Lies between the Bhagirathi valley on the west and the Bhilangana valley on the east, near the Khatling Glacier.
- The Name: “Sahastra” means a thousand in Sanskrit, referring to the cluster of numerous small and large alpine tarns (such as Pari Tal, Bhim Tal, and Lamb Tal) surrounding the main lake.
- Views: Offers grand vistas of major Himalayan peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, and the Gangotri range.
