Sangla–Rakcham–Chitkul
Sangla–Rakcham–Chitkul is a spectacular Himalayan valley trail in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, following the beautiful Baspa River through apple orchards, pine forests, green meadows and traditional Kinnauri villages. The journey culminates at Chitkul, situated at around 3,450 m and famous as the last inhabited village in this valley near the Indo-Tibetan border.

About Sangla–Rakcham–Chitkul
The Sangla–Rakcham–Chitkul journey takes you deep into the scenic Baspa Valley of Kinnaur, where dramatic mountains, dense forests, apple orchards, alpine meadows and the turquoise Baspa River create an unforgettable Himalayan landscape. Starting from Sangla at around 2,700 m, the route continues through the peaceful village of Rakcham, known for its open meadows, traditional houses and spectacular mountain surroundings, before reaching Chitkul at approximately 3,450 m. Along the way, travellers can experience Kinnauri culture, village life, wooden architecture, riverside walks and panoramic views of snow-covered peaks. Chitkul provides the perfect finale, with its remote location, traditional settlements and striking high-altitude scenery. The best time for this circuit is generally April–June and September–November, with May–June and September–October particularly suitable for comfortable exploration.
