About
Thamsar pass
Thamsar Pass offers a raw and dramatic Himalayan experience, beginning through the beautiful forests and green valleys around Bir and Rajgundha before gradually entering vast alpine meadows, waterfalls, rocky mountain terrain and high-altitude landscapes. As the trail climbs towards the pass, vegetation becomes sparse and the scenery changes into an impressive world of snowfields, glaciers, glacial lakes and towering Dhauladhar peaks. The high point around Thamsar Pass provides spectacular views across the surrounding Himalayan ranges, while the remote Bara Bhangal side adds a strong sense of wilderness and isolation. Traditional Gaddi shepherd routes, peaceful mountain camps, rushing streams, wildflowers and snow-covered ridges make the trek particularly scenic. Because the route receives far fewer trekkers than famous Himachal trails, it offers a much more peaceful and adventurous Himalayan experience.
