About Triund Trek
The Triund Trek is one of the most popular and accessible Himalayan treks in Himachal Pradesh, located near McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala in the Kangra district. The trail begins around Gallu Devi above McLeod Ganj and winds through beautiful forests of oak, deodar and rhododendron, gradually climbing towards the open grassy ridge of Triund. The route is approximately 9 km one way from McLeod Ganj, or shorter when starting from the Gallu Devi road head, and usually takes around four to five hours to reach the top.At an altitude of approximately 2,850 metres (9,350 feet), Triund provides magnificent panoramic views, with the dramatic Dhauladhar mountains on one side and the Kangra Valley on the other. The final section of the trail is known for its famous “22 curves,” which makes the climb steeper but also adds to the excitement of the trek.Trekkers can spend the night camping on the ridge, enjoy the sunset over the mountains, and wake up to spectacular sunrise views. The trek is generally considered easy to moderate, making it suitable for beginners with reasonable fitness. Its short duration, scenic trail, high-altitude meadow, mountain views and convenient location make Triund an excellent choice for a 2-day, 1-night Himalayan adventure.
